MASTER CLASS: COLLEGE AUDITION INTENSIVE

Preparation is key to winning the audition!

This eight-week course is designed for students ages 15-18 who are planning to study theatre in college.  Audition requirements for colleges and conservatories can vary widely.  Our intensive class will help you build an arsenal of monologues in different lengths and styles, from Classical to Shakespeare to Contemporary to Modern. 

Topics to be covered include:

- Stage time with individual coaching
- Tricks and tips for “cold readings”
- Resources for finding monologues and plays
- How to find topnotch theatre programs, scholarships, and auditioning opportunities
- Scene work as an introduction to advanced acting techniques

Our instructor, Rip Claassen, is an experienced theatrical director who has been a top DC area acting coach for 20 years.  He has taught theatre and acting at the Institute for the Arts (IFTA) for Fairfax County Public Schools, and Duke Ellington School of the Arts, and has aided students in getting into some of the top schools in the country. Rip has directed, produced and costumed for The American Century Theater, Natural Theatricals, Howard University, American University, and other venues.  He has led monologue workshops at the Maryland State Drama Festival and for the Actors Center.

Tuition:  $200
8 2-hour classes - Saturdays, 9 to 11 AM
Class size is limited.  An additional session may be scheduled if needed.

TnT classes are held at the Comedy Spot on the third floor of Ballston Common Mall.  The mall is convenient to the Ballston Metro station and there is plenty of inexpensive ($1) garage parking.
