Blog on Ballston Patch
Got something to say? Patch.com is adding a platform for local bloggers on May 4.
Beginning May 4, Ballston Patch will be making room for local bloggers on the site.
We're looking for bloggers who can riff on various topics, share their personality and engage our readers in discussions.
Patch is more than a news site, it's an online conversation about your community.
- Are you passionate about Arlington's core issues?
- Are you an expert craftsman or hobbyist who can share do-it-yourself tips?
- Do you have strong opinions about local government?
- Can you just make us all laugh?
- Can you write compellingly?
Then, we want to hear from you.
This isn't a reporting job. It's blogging. You write what you want to say when you want to say it. Do it on your schedule, whether that's posting multiple entries per day or a couple times a month.
Patch won't own what you post, so you can repost your entries to your other blogs. Much like The Huffington Post has done, Patch is providing local bloggers an online platform to have their words seen by a larger audience.
Be interesting. Be provocative. Be yourself.
My role as editor would be to review blog entries submitted to Ballston Patch to ensure quality. I may make small spelling, grammar and style changes to help your blog shine.
If you'd like to chat about the opportunity to share your unique voice with our readers, let me know by emailing abigail@patch.com.

so let me get this straight...instead of having my OWN (free) blog where I can do and say what I want, I can provide FREE, LOCAL CONTENT to patch so that patch can make more revenue via advertisements. All I get in return is a "larger audience". That seems like a pretty shady business model to me.

Thanks for your comment "baja." With our Local Voices blog content, bloggers can post their content on Patch and link to their own blogs where their content is also posted. It's just another way for people to have their voices heard in the community. Of course, if you don't like the model, you certainly don't have to participate.

@baja Take a chill pill. You have consenting adults with a variety of motivations and possible mutual benefits that come with the model. There is nothing shady about it. It may not be for you, but that is irrelevant.
We've got to get this patch ranking #1 for "Ballston" in google and bing!
I'll email you, Abby, some crazy writing samples with too much personality included.
